About
What We Do
The Rescue 1 Foundation was formed in 1977 to improve ambulance service for our community. It was the first citizen-inspired foundation in California to support its local fire district and paramedic program.
Administer Funds
The mission of the Rescue 1 Foundation is to receive and administer donations in order to enhance public safety by providing advanced medical and safety equipment, supplies, and educational services for the Moraga-Orinda Fire District.
Enhance Public Safety
The funds administered by the Rescue 1 Foundation allow the Moraga-Orinda Fire District to be a leader in technological advances for emergency services. Their ambulances and fire trucks are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and other cutting-edge systems. The Foundation has administered funds to aid the Fire District in predicting wildfire scenarios, provided portable command system hardware for Battalion Chiefs and engines, and streamlined evacuation procedures.
Create Awareness
The Board of Directors of the Rescue 1 Foundation is comprised of a group of citizens from Moraga and Orinda with a diverse array of backgrounds. This allows them to reach all corners of the community to spread the word about the Foundation and generate interest in the mission of supporting the MOFD.
